P3: Personal Passion Projects
Middle Schoolers use the design thinking process to prototype and test solutions for a problem they are passionate about. We pair each student up with a P3 mentor from our community. Students present their P3 work at an annual Expo. The link above shows a slideshow explaining our process. You can also click here to find out more about the P3 program. Google/G Suite Training
I have been a Google for Education Certified Trainer for several years. Some of my favorite topics to train on include Applied Digital Skills, organizing Google Drive, and Google Sites. Collaboration Day
I worked with a team of colleagues to design and facilitate a day of professional development focused on collaboration, particularly interdisciplinary and cross-divisional collaboration. Activities included an introduction presented by me, a teacher panel, "speed-connecting," and discussion sessions. |
Design Thinking in Education
Whether it's using the process for classroom projects, teaching students to solve problems, or working on school-wide challenges, I'm passionate about using the design thinking process in schools. I have presented about this topic at several conferences, and continue to train my own colleagues in this area each year. We use design thinking throughout our school, particularly in our middle school P3 program. Faculty Professional Development
One of the major roles I serve at my school is overseeing all professional development. I use Google Classroom to organize and facilitate our PD. The link above shows our weekly PD schedule. This slideshow explaining our new faculty evaluation process, which I spearheaded, may also be of interest. The Middle School Experience
I serve as the Director of Curriculum and Innovation at my school, and from time to time have also taken on some Middle School leadership responsibilities. I created this website as a place for students, parents, and teachers to learn information about the Middle School Experience. Learn. Create. Collaborate.
A self-guided, online, professional development platform. Participants work through a variety of modules at their own pace. After learning about a topic, they create something using Google Classroom, then they collaborate on the topic via Google Plus. See also this presentation for the 2017 ICE Conference. |
